

PTC OFFICERS
8th Grade President: Directly oversees all chair positions and PTC business; prepares agendas for and runs PTC meetings; attends District Roundtable meetings; sends out periodic emails to families on the District listserv (mailing list).
7th Grade President: Assists 8th grade president in attending meetings and overseeing general business of the PTC; attends PTC and District Roundtable meetings; prepares monthly newsletter of PTC activities; oversees fundraising activities.
The 7th Grade President position rotates through the four district elementary schools:
· Ogden: 2007-08 school year; serves as 8th grade president 2008-09
· Congress Park: 2008-09 school year; serves as 8th grade president 2009-10
· Cossitt: 2009-10 school year; serves as 8th grade president 2010-11
· Forest Road: 2010-11 school year; serves as 8th grade president 2011-12
Secretary: Attends all meetings; records and prepares minutes for next meeting; handles PTC correspondence.
Treasurer: Attends all meetings, prepares and maintains a budget, keeps accurate records of, and handles PTC cash flow. Distributes approved money to appropriate chairs; distributes approved reimbursements.
PTC COMMITTEES
Baja Fresh: Coordinates Park Jr. High nights with Baja Fresh. Schedules 2 nights per month during the school year; copies and distributes flyers in school mailboxes and electronically prior to each Baja Night.
Calendar: Coordinates dates between committees and school district, produces calendar, and arranges for printing. Main responsibilities occur in June, July, and August.
Chicago Wolves: Coordinates date of Park Jr. High night at the Chicago Wolves; distributes flyers in school mailboxes and electronically; collects ticket orders; organizes and distributes tickets.
Dance Program (Fortnightly): Two parents from 7th grade only needed. Send out registration forms in summer. Coordinate with dance instructors. Coordinate volunteers for each dance (chaperones, baking, and cleanup).
Eighth Grade Party: 8th grade parents plan end of year party (for 8th graders only) on the Friday before graduation; responsible for decorations, food, DJ and chaperones.
Friday Night Live: Responsible for planning seven (7) Friday Night Lives (FNLs) from December through April, including arranging for chaperones, DJ, snacks, and games/activities.
Game Show Night: Organize an evening of fun for parents and/or students with the theme: “Are You Smarter than Your 5th Grader?” – using questions from 7th and 8th grade. This committee is brand new with many opportunities to be creative and entertaining. Make it a parents-only night or a family outing.
Halloween Party: Coordinates a party held the Friday before Halloween. Responsible for arranging for decorations, food, DJ, chaperones and cleanup.
Ice Cream Social: Takes place in April/May on the same night as Park Fest; responsible for arranging for ice cream delivery, set up, volunteer servers and cleanup.
LRC Volunteer Coordinator: Schedules volunteers to work with library personnel during the school year as needed.
LRC Volunteer: Works as a weekly/ bi-weekly volunteer in the LRC.
Magazine Drive: Organizes and coordinates the fall magazine drive; responsible for promotional events, collecting funds and coordinating volunteers.
Market Day Chair or Co-Chairs: Once a month, all year: Collects orders from the school office or via telephone; makes a few on line order entries each month; distributes order forms; oversees Market Day order pick up one Monday per month from 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Checks orders, coordinates volunteers. We need new co-chairs to take over Market Day – or it will go away!
Market Day Volunteers: One Monday a month from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., come to the cafeteria for a 1.5 hour workout. Help us unpack, sort and fill Market Day orders. The more the merrier – and the more volunteers, the less work and time it takes! We need volunteers from September through May – or Market Day will go away!
Musical/Drama Production Assistants: One/two people per grade needed to be available from September through November for rehearsals after school. The 8th Grade Chair oversees all areas of production (set, costumes, props, programs, etc.) and is the sole liaison to PJH staff. The 7th grade Co-Chair assists the Chair and is responsible for organizing parent volunteers.
Office Aides: Two people are needed each week to volunteer once a month to copy materials/ stuff envelopes as needed for Park staff.
Parent & Community Network Representative: Attends monthly meetings at LTHS and reports back to PTC.
PIMA Representative: Liaison between the Parent Instrumental Music Association and Park’s PTC.
Plant Sale: Responsible for organizing fall and spring plant sales. Coordinates with plant store and distributes flyers.
Registration: During late summer; arranges collating of mailing materials, coordinates volunteers needed, sets up and oversees registration workstations; assists with collection of registration information and sorting forms.
Room Parent Coordinator: Creates a calling tree list (with help from school office) for room parents to use for notification of emergency school closings.
Room Parent: Calling tree job only. Alerts parents of emergency school closings. There are no class parties.
Special Assignments: We need “stand-by” volunteers for a potential fundraiser that is still emerging and might involve contact with some local businesses. It’s still in the planning stage, so if you’re up for a challenging and fun unknown assignment that will help the PTC raise some capital, sign up here!
Spring “Rock/Pop” Concert: Organizes, plans, schedules Friday night spring concert for the students. Solicits donations for raffle prizes, distributes flyers in school mailboxes and electronically; prepares posters; “books” Park Jr. High (and other local) talent for entertainment; arranges refreshments for sale (chips, soda, etc.). In 2008, two 7th grade rock bands are opening for Ryan Silver, a renowned local recording artist.
Student Assemblies: Assists in previewing and planning performances and assemblies for students throughout the school year.
Student Directory: During early fall: Compiles data obtained at registration, arranges names, addresses, and emails for printing; proofreads copy; chooses cover art.
Student Pictures: Two days during the first week of school: coordinates any paperwork with school office and assists in photos being taken; arranges volunteers for 8th grade pictures taken in March or April.
Teacher Appreciation: Arranges a Conference Day snack/lunch in November; arranges teacher appreciation luncheon in the spring; coordinates volunteers to help with purchasing, preparing, and serving food, and cleaning up afterward; plans and supports other Teacher Appreciation Week activities and goodies.
Volunteer Coordinator: Organizes and keeps track of volunteers for various committees; maintains a general volunteer list for when/if "extra" help is needed by school or other committees.
Taste of the World: Schedules, organizes, plans a “taste of the world” fundraiser for Park Jr. High – parents only! This is another new committee that is yours to make a fun evening out for parents. The committee will arrange for volunteers; distribute flyers in mailboxes and electronically; etc. and take charge of this fun event.
